So you had to suffer through my endless stories of summer school. Well, the results are out and I passed. A 58.. which is less than I thought I'd get but a pass nevertheless. I guess I took the bottom end of the bell curve which leaves the top end for the rest of the art students who are relying on good marks. I have now completed a computing degree.
39 hours of boring lectures
13 hours of boring tutorials
13 weeks of having to put up with bullshit from classmates and the lecturer
2 x 3 hour exams
= 38 overall mark and desire to kill someone
3 excursions
2 cases of mild sunburn
1 made up arts project
$20 for fancy pens
= 58 overall and the best fun I've had in ages.
Irony = Failing Computer Graphics & Animation and creating the arts project you can see here to complete a Bachelor of Computing.
Mine is the one circled in yellow. Basically all the words are eco-aware or buzz words like "diversity" and "sustainable", etc. It was very therapeutic ripping it from the wall. I was supposed to make up some kind of meaning but I could never say anything about it with a straight face.
So NYs resolution number 1 is already out the window. I've been so slack about posting I'm getting annoyed messages from people who don't even like me and only read my blog to get juicy goss about the stupid things I've done. You know who you are..
I've finished summer school. The Wilderness and the Natural Environment. I met some really lovely people and did an art project that everyone said was great. The expression I gave them when they said that was a mixture of disdain and "You're fucking kidding me right?" but as the majority of the class weren't actually art students no one took my look too seriously. I won't know the results officially until the end of the month but I would be horrified if I don't pass.. despite my dodgey art project.
For the first time in my life I've actually enjoyed being a student, which is a little sad after 2.5 years of TAFE and 2.5 years of Uni.. I even think back on sliding down the ravine on my arse and ending up head first in a large shrub at the bottom with fond memories.. I'd rather do that again any day than write programs again. I don't think the 'wilderness' is my passion.. it just gave me a freedom that computing never gave me. A part of me is actually glad I failed that last unit so I got to experience a less anally retentive faculty and school.
Work has been keeping me busy. I think I might have mentioned that my bosses were working about 3 jobs between them as their boss quit unexpectedly and the position hasn't been filled yet. My bosses finally decided that I could be given a bit more responsibility and have given me some of the administration work to handle.. the admin work picked up horrifically last week and I was asked to work full time (rather than my 50%) until things settle down. Plus, on Friday I was asked if I wanted some tutoring work later in the year. I jumped at the chance and she's all set to send me the details when she gets back from leave. I'll hopefully pay off my car a little sooner.. :D
Speaking of, I finally got her windows tinted after a big fiasco. She's done just under 3,000kms already so I'm trying to behave myself or she'll have to back up to Cooee AGAIN for her 10,000km service. I have plans to go up this week to get her paint protection thing done. That's another $1,400.. then I'm told I have to get headlight and bonnet guards as it'll be $500 a pop if I get a rock in them.. does it ever stop?? Still.. she looks good and I still saunter towards her in the car park. That is.. when I remember she's mine.. I keep forgetting. I usually walk to work and as I was coming home last week I saw her parked in our driveway.. I thought "Geez.. we've got a visitor.. I hope it's not one of Dad's friends.. maybe I should go back to work for another hour until they leave?" .. I'll get used to it one day. Probably the day before I sell her and upgrade. *sigh*
